I am a big fan of advisory boards. They serve as a great place to allow former board members to "retire" and still be involved. They also afford us the opportunity to get great folks involved, without the commitment of being on the board of directors.

Any comments?

I couldn't agree more. Finding ways for people to get involved - - and stay involved - - when they don't have time to serve on the board of directors is critical.

We love using community members on adivsory boards to get involved, begin the ducation process about our mission and also as a pool to recruit future board members from.

I have two advisory boards - one for our youth programming and one just to keep me in line and make sure that we are still focued on our mission at the Business Solutions Center. From the comments made at the meetings, I then know who to tap for help on certain projects.
